The increasingly sporty Lexus lineup adds an especially bold flair with the 2015 Lexus IS 250, a rear- or all-wheel drive sport sedan that earned a complete redesign last year. Slotting below the GS and ES in the Lexus lineup, the IS appeals to shoppers especially interested in an enjoyable driving experience and sporty styling.

Offered as a 4-door sedan or a 2-door hardtop convertible, the IS 250 features a 204-horsepower 2.5-liter V6, a smooth, quiet powerplant that offers adequate acceleration. The IS 250 is no muscle car, however. That honor goes to the more expensive IS 350, which uses a brawny 306-hp 3.5-liter V6. Still, the less powerful IS 250 touts better gas mileage, with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ratings reaching as high as 21 miles per gallon in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.

While the IS 250 isn't as fast as its IS 350 big brother, we're impressed with the car's bold looks and with its driving experience, which offers surprisingly sharp handling. The cabin also provides a sophisticated, sporty feel thanks to high-quality materials and a bold design.

As for equipment, the 2015 Lexus IS 250 boasts a wide array of standard features, including 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power sunroof, a smart key with push-button start and Bluetooth. Options include a navigation system, heated and ventilated front seats and a host of modern safety features. The year-round security of all-wheel drive is also available for drivers in cold-weather climates.
